This is a typical early 1900s mid-terrace cottage constructed using clay brick & lime mortars. The home owners were new & very little was known about the crack apart from the fact it had been well patched before the sale a few months earlier. After a Buildfix inspection & plaster work being removed the full extent of cracking was revealed.
Cause
Buildfix deemed bad workmanship by original bricklayer all those years back. Bricks under the window hadn't been bonded correctly. Bricks require some form of bonding, typically half bond to allow load to be evenly spread throughout the wall.
Solution
Remove plaster work inside & cut-to-chase on the outside. Install crack stitching system, inject specialist grout & plaster/render/paint.
